Rogaine & Minoxidil

Perhaps one of the most touted treatments when it comes to hair loss is Rogaine and Minoxidil. Rogaine is the brand name for this topical hair growth treatment and Minoxidil is the active ingredient. Both of these names are used almost interchangeably in the world of hair re-growth.

Rogaine and Minoxidil come in different forms. There is Rogaine foam as well as a spray and even a topical application through a dropper. Each form of this hair growth aid works equally well. When Rogaine Minoxidil first came out, the formula was aimed at men only. However, it wasn’t long before Rogaine for Women hit the market. Rogaine for women fills that need for those females with thinning hair.

Does Rogaine really work? That is the question many people with thinning hair or baldness have. Yes, Rogaine does work. However, Rogaine and Minoxidil will not grow hair on completely bald areas or even along the hairline in the front. This answers the question that many people may have about whether Rogaine does work. It works best on the top back of your head. Plus, Rogaine works better in women than men.

Side Effects Of Rogaine

As with any other drug, there are some Minoxidil side effects. You may experience some irritation on the scalp and even dandruff. With these Rogaine side effects, you can combat them with a dandruff shampoo. You may also notice some extra hair being lost at the beginning of the treatment process. This is actually a sign that the Rogaine and Minoxidil are working its magic.

Rogaine results have shown that it can greatly slow down the hair loss process and even facilitate hair re-growth. However, once you stop the Rogaine and Minoxidil, any progress your hair and scalp have made stop.

Comparisons To Other Hair Growth Formulas

There are other hair growth facilitators on the market today that have been FDA approved. Propecia is one and Avacor is another formula. Propecia is just for men with male patterned baldness while Avacor is for both men and women. The question of whether Avacor or Rogaine is better is a matter of opinion because both of them contain the active ingredient Minoxidil.

And with Propecia and Rogaine, Retin-A can be used in conjunction with these and you can even get formulas with Retin-A. This facilitates the absorption of Rogaine and Minoxidil or any other topical hair growth formula. There are different options out there if you are experiencing hair loss; however, not all of them may be a good fit for you. Do a bit of research and weigh the pros and cons before making a decision of whether or not Rogaine and Minoxidil would be a good choice.
